On Saturday, 16 November 2024, at night at 23:50, in Molėtų district municipality, on the Ukmergė–Molėtai national road (kilometre 41), a Toyota Avensis ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 56-year-old driver of the Toyota (25 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.57‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
