On Saturday, 6 September 2025, in the evening at 21:32, in Utenos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Utena main road (kilometre 86.28), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi Q5, an Audi Allroad and a Ford Focus. One person died — the 35-year-old driver of the Ford (later died from the injuries). Two people were injured — the 41-year-old driver of the Audi Q5 (treated as an outpatient) and a 36-year-old passenger of the Ford (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the Audi Q5 (21 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (2.81‰ blood alcohol). A 49-year-old passenger of the Audi Allroad was drunk (1.01‰). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
