On Saturday, 20 September 2025, in the afternoon at 12:03, in Rokiškio district municipality, on the Daugpilis–Rokiškis–Panevėžys national road (kilometre 23.08), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat and a BMW 330. One person died — the 86-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (later died from the injuries). Three people were injured — the 32-year-old driver of the BMW (treated as an outpatient), a 72-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized) and a 82-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 86-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (30 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober.
