On Saturday, 16 March 2013, in the afternoon at 13:38, in Pakruojo district municipality, on Varpo street, at the junction with Laisvės street, a Volvo 850 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Volvo (less than a year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
