On Tuesday, 3 December 2013, at night at 1:35, in Biržų district municipality, on the Biržai–Geidžiūnai–Vabalninkas regional road (kilometre 4.20), a Volkswagen Passat hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
