On Saturday, 21 December 2013, at night at around 2:00, in Švenčionių district municipality, on the Švenčionys–Adutiškis national road (kilometre 11.64), a Mazda 323 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Mazda, who failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
