On Wednesday, 1 January 2014, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Šiauliai, on Panevėžio street, at the junction with V. Bielskio street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Toyota RAV4 and a Volkswagen Golf. Two people were injured — a 27-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient) and a 67-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Toyota (15 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
