On Tuesday, 31 December 2013, in the morning at around 9:00, in Kaunas, on Varnių street near No. 38, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW 530 and a Mazda 2. Two people were injured — a 64-year-old passenger of the Mazda (treated as an outpatient) and the 38-year-old driver of the Mazda (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the BMW (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
