On Thursday, 2 January 2014, in the afternoon at 15:30, in Kaunas, on Ukmergės street near No. 25, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Renault 19 and a Volkswagen Polo. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 58-year-old driver of the Renault (25 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. He was drunk (1.62‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
