On Wednesday, 8 January 2014, in the morning at 7:46, in Biržų district municipality, on J. Basanavičiaus street near No. 40, an Audi A4 Avant hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 9-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized) and a 27-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Audi (23 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober.
