On Sunday, 2 February 2014, in the afternoon at around 12:00, in Neringos municipality, on the Smiltynė–Nida national road (kilometre 5.10), a Hyundai ix35 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the Hyundai (a citizen of Russia) (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
