On Monday, 10 February 2014, in the evening at 18:35, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vievis–Maišiagala–Nemenčinė national road (kilometre 1), a collision with a bicycle occurred. The collision involved an Audi 80 Avant and a bicycle. One person was injured — a 52-year-old cyclist (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Audi (5 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
