On Tuesday, 11 February 2014, in the evening at 18:15, in Kaišiadorių district municipality, on the Kaišiadorys–Žasliai regional road (kilometre 2.90), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW 525 and a Volkswagen Golf. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the BMW, who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (1.85‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
