On Monday, 17 February 2014, at night at 0:58, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 41.85), a Ford Galaxy hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 31-year-old driver of the Ford (13 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.61‰ blood alcohol).
