On Friday, 28 March 2014, in the evening at 21:13, in Anykščių district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 105.71), a Skoda Fabia hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 46-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by a 46-year-old pedestrian, who was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest) and was walking on the carriageway where prohibited. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
