On Tuesday, 8 April 2014, in the afternoon at 11:10, in Ignalinos district municipality, on the Utena–Kaltanėnai–Švenčionys national road (kilometre 29.47), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6, an Audi 100 Avant and a Volkswagen Passat. The accident was caused by the 76-year-old driver of the Audi A6 (21 years of driving experience), who failed to comply with road signs or markings. All drivers were sober.
