On Thursday, 17 April 2014, in the evening at 22:40, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Anykščiai–Troškūnai–Panevėžys national road (kilometre 43.35), a Volkswagen Golf rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
