On Sunday, 20 April 2014, in the evening at 22:30, in Klaipėda, on Šilutės pl. near No. 38, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mazda MX-3 and a Volkswagen Golf. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Mazda, who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (0.44‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
