On Monday, 14 April 2014, in the morning at 6:30, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 39.73), a vehicle hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 59-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who committed other traffic rule violations. He fled the scene.
