On Saturday, 3 May 2014, in the afternoon at 12:42, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Kelmė–Užventis national road (kilometre 24.88), a collision with a motorcycle occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6, a KMZ MT 10-36, a Honda CB 600, a Yamaha XVS 1100 and a Suzuki SV 1000. One person died — the 34-year-old driver of the Audi (was not wearing a seatbelt). Five people were injured — the 28-year-old driver of the KMZ (hospitalized), a 26-year-old passenger of the Honda (hospitalized), a 32-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 23-year-old passenger of the Yamaha (hospitalized) and the 27-year-old driver of the Honda (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Audi (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.62‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
