On Sunday, 18 May 2014, in the morning at 5:30, in Ignalinos district municipality, Girminių village, on Saulėtekio skg. street, a BMW 318 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was contaminated. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
