On Monday, 16 June 2014, in the afternoon at 12:35, in Vilnius, on Kalvarijų street, at the junction with Apkasų street, a Mercedes-Benz S500 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 88-year-old pedestrian (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (12 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
