On Thursday, 26 June 2014, in the morning at 7:27, in Vilnius, on Salininkų street, at the junction with Katiliškių street, at a railway crossing, a collision with a rail vehicle occurred. The collision involved an Opel Vectra and a rail vehicle. Two people died — a 3-year-old passenger of the Opel (later died from the injuries) and a 1-year-old passenger of the Opel. Three people were injured — the 34-year-old driver of the Opel (hospitalized), a 38-year-old passenger of the Opel (hospitalized) and a 5-year-old passenger of the Opel (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Opel (16 years of driving experience), who failed to obey traffic-control signals. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
