On Friday, 27 June 2014, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Šiauliai, on Architektų street, at the junction with Jono Jablonskio street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Volvo S80 and a BMW 520I. Two people were injured — a 16-year-old passenger of the BMW (hospitalized) and the 24-year-old driver of the BMW (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Volvo (1 year of driving experience), who failed to obey traffic-control signals. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
