On Sunday, 6 July 2014, in the morning at 7:55, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Paraseinys–Alėjai–Lioliai–Kelmė regional road (kilometre 25.17), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi 80 and a BMW 330D. Three people died — the 19-year-old driver of the Audi, a 18-year-old passenger of the Audi and a 14-year-old passenger of the Audi. Three people were injured — the 28-year-old driver of the BMW (hospitalized), a 15-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized) and a 24-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Audi (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
