On Monday, 28 July 2014, in the afternoon at 14:13, in Biržų district municipality, on Respublikos street, at the junction with Vytauto street, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Ford Mondeo and a Lancia Zeta. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Ford, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.80‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
