On Saturday, 16 August 2014, in the morning at 9:55, in Skuodo district municipality, on Vilniaus street near No. 22, at the junction with Vaižganto street, a VAZ 2103 registered in Latvia hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 84-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 76-year-old driver of the VAZ (a citizen of Latvia) (40 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
