On Saturday, 16 August 2014, in the afternoon at around 12:00, in Neringos municipality, on the Smiltynė–Nida national road (kilometre 22.10), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Land Rover Range Rover Sport and a Peugeot J 5. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Land Rover (17 years of driving experience), who exceeded the speed set by traffic rules or road signs and violated overtaking rules. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
