On Sunday, 7 September 2014, in the afternoon at 15:20, in Kaunas, on Taikos pr., at the junction with Pašilės street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 520 and a Renault Espace. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the BMW (19 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.41‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
