On Thursday, 11 September 2014, in the evening at 22:30, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Seirijai–Lazdijai national road (kilometre 12.72), a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 315 CDI registered in Belarus ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (a citizen of Belarus) (12 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was fog, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
