On Saturday, 23 August 2014, at night at 23:50, in Klaipėda, on Taikos pr. near No. 97B, a Subaru Impreza hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 20-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Subaru, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
