On Saturday, 13 September 2014, at night at 23:44, in Vilnius, on Liepkalnio street, at the junction with Gardino street, a Kawasaki ZXR 750 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 23-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). One person was injured — the 30-year-old driver of the Kawasaki (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Kawasaki, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.12‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
