On Thursday, 16 October 2014, in the morning at 7:55, in Joniškio district municipality, on the Joniškis–Žagarė–Naujoji Akmenė national road (kilometre 11), a collision with a bicycle occurred. The collision involved a Fiat Bravo and a bicycle. One person was injured — a 41-year-old cyclist (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Fiat (13 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
