Drunk Seat driver and Renault crash on J. Janonio street, Tirkšlių town
On Sunday, 2 November 2014, in the evening at 19:21, in Mažeikių district municipality, Tirkšlių town, on J. Janonio street, at the junction with Laukų street, a collision while turning right occurred. The collision involved a Seat Toledo and a Renault Megane. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Seat (a citizen of Latvia), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.29‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
