On Tuesday, 9 December 2014, in the evening at around 19:00, in Marijampolės municipality, Marciniškių village, on the Mokolai–Šunskai–Tursučiai regional road (kilometre 8.45), a Fiat Ulysse hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. Two people died — a 48-year-old pedestrian and a 46-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by a 48-year-old pedestrian, who committed other traffic rule violations and was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest). The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
