On Saturday, 27 December 2014, in the afternoon at around 14:00, in Šiaulių district municipality, Gruzdžių town, on Nepriklausomybės a., a Renault Megane Scenic hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Renault (20 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
