On Saturday, 10 January 2015, in the evening at around 17:00, in Šilalės district municipality, Kvėdarnos town, on Dariaus ir Girėno street near No. 42, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Polo and a Volkswagen Passat. Two people were injured — a 6-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen Passat (treated as an outpatient) and a 31-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen Passat (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Polo (4 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
