On Wednesday, 14 January 2015, in the evening at 22:50, in Alytus, on Kaštonų street, at the junction with Topolių street, a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.66‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
