On Friday, 23 January 2015, in the evening at around 22:00, in Lazdijų district municipality, on the Marijampolė–Liudvinavas–Krosna national road (kilometre 21.40), a collision occurred. The collision involved a Volvo 850 and a Volkswagen Golf. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Volvo, who committed other traffic rule violations and violated overtaking rules. He had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
