On Monday, 26 January 2015, in the morning at around 8:00, in Marijampolės municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 51.85), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Chevrolet Aveo registered in Ukraine and an Audi A4. Three people were injured — the 28-year-old driver of the Chevrolet (a citizen of Ukraine) (hospitalized), a 51-year-old passenger of the Chevrolet (a citizen of Ukraine) (treated as an outpatient) and the 45-year-old driver of the Audi (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Chevrolet (a citizen of Ukraine) (9 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
