On Thursday, 5 February 2015, in the evening at 19:40, in Šiauliai, on Gardino street near No. 9, a Volkswagen Polo hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 14-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by a 14-year-old pedestrian, who committed sudden emergence from behind a vehicle, tree, etc., was crossing the carriageway where prohibited and was crossing the carriageway in a built-up area outside a crossing where there is a median strip. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
