On Friday, 13 March 2015, in the evening at 20:33, in Vilnius, on Erfurto street, at the junction with Žėručio street, a BMW 530 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person died — a 76-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). Four people were injured — a 73-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized), a 20-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized), a 4-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 11-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He was drunk (1.86‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
