On Sunday, 22 March 2015, at night at 1:46, in Švenčionių district municipality, on the Vilnius-Švenčionys-Zarasai national road (kilometre 87.32), a Volkswagen Golf rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.82‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
