Mercedes-Benz truck and two other vehicles crash on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga road
On Tuesday, 24 March 2015, in the evening at 18:06, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Pasvalys–Ryga main road (kilometre 9.90), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz 1840, a DAF FT XF105.460 registered in Latvia, a Kaessbohrer APT 002 and a Schmitz SKO 24 registered in Latvia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (13 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. The 47-year-old driver of the DAF (a citizen of Latvia) was drunk (2.31‰). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
