On Sunday, 5 April 2015, in the evening at 18:06, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Panevėžys–Aristava–Sitkūnai main road (kilometre 14.46), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a Saab 9-3, a Scania R420 registered in Latvia and a Krone SD registered in Latvia. One person died — the 34-year-old driver of the Saab. Two people were injured — a 40-year-old passenger of the Scania (a citizen of Latvia) (treated as an outpatient) and the 46-year-old driver of the Scania (a citizen of Latvia) (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 34-year-old driver of the Saab (15 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober.
