Drunk Volkswagen driver in crash with Volkswagen on the Vilnius–Minskas road
On Sunday, 5 April 2015, in the afternoon at 16:17, in Vilniaus district municipality, on the Vilnius–Minskas main road (kilometre 10.10), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Transporter registered in Germany and a Volkswagen Golf. Two people were injured — a 32-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen Golf (treated as an outpatient) and the 35-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Transporter, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.34‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 22-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen Transporter was drunk (1.21‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 60 km/h.
