On Monday, 15 June 2015, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 12.14), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Avensis. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 72-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (41 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene.
