On Wednesday, 15 July 2015, at night at 2:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 30.02), a Mitsubishi Galant hit an obstacle. One person was injured — a 42-year-old passenger of the Mitsubishi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
