On Friday, 31 July 2015, in the evening at 21:30, in Šakių district municipality, Girėnų village, on Kauno street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Ford Focus and a Volkswagen Golf. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Ford (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.44‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was wet.
