On Saturday, 1 August 2015, in the evening at around 22:00, in Mažeikių district municipality, on Ventos street near No. 31, an Audi A4 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Audi (1 year of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He was drunk (2.26‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. A 34-year-old pedestrian was drunk (1.99‰). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry.
